Chain Sprocket Coupling

A chain sprocket coupling is a compact highly efficient mechanical power transmission component used to connect two rotating shafts. It consists of two identical sprockets a single or double –strand roller chain that wraps around sprockets, acting as the flexible connecting elements. The coupling capable of handling high amounts of torque in a relatively small space. Installation and disassembly are extremely simple compared to the other coupling types. Chain coupings are widely used in a variety of industrial and mechanical equipments like conveyor systems, elevators, pumps, fans and heavy duty construction equipments.

Working Principle

As one shaft rotates, its attached sprocket drives the roller chain, which in turn transfers the rotating force and torque to the second sprocket.

Misalignment Tolerance

The clearance between the chain rollers and the sprocket teeth allows the coupling to tolerate minor angular, parallel and axial shaft misalignments.

Assembly And Disassembly

The chain can be easily joined or split by removing or inserting a single connecting link pin, allowing maintenance without moving driver or driven elements.
